Last weekend Alisha decided to dress Missy up in this cute outfit...isn't she adorable! It is a pair of Alisha's gym shorts and a tank top. Too funny! Missy was really tolerant and didn't seem to mind.

Next she wrapped her up in a blanket like a baby and rocked her in the recliner! It's a good thing Missy is such a mild-mannered dog!

"Highlight" of turning 14!

Alisha has been wanting highlights in her hair for quite a while so as part of her birthday, I took her to Alona Reynolds (who cuts our hair).

She put in some chunky blond highlights that look really great. It certainly makes Alisha look more grown up though!

Missy Gets A Bath

Missy has been in the house with us all winter because of the excess amounts of snow and the fact that it has been so cold this winter. Well, she hasn't had a bath since early fall so yesterday morning Matt decided it was high time she had one. I figured the tub was due for a cleaning anyway so we might as well do it before we cleaned.

Matt got her on her leash and led her to the tub. She was none too pleased at the prospect of getting in - even though he didn't even have water in it yet! Anyway, she finally got in and he started adding water. He was pouring it over her with a big cup. He wanted her to sit down but she looked at him like "You want me to put my butt in the water? No!" She finally did sit down about half way. It was hilarious! It reminded me of being out camping and having to squat in the woods!

We were out of dog shampoo so Matt used my shampoo instead. At least she smells really good now! We encouraged her to cooperate through the ordeal by giving her pretzels which she really likes. Afterwards Matt hurried her outside so she could shake really well. Then the darn dog went and rolled around in the snow! For about ten minutes she would run around and then roll around giving herself a snow bath! I'm really sorry I didn't get pictures to share but I'm sure you can imagine how funny it was.

All of us keep commenting on how nice and soft she is and how good she smells. I guess she'll have more frequent baths in her future!

Cold Weather Campout

Austin had a campout planned with his Scout group the first weekend in February. He and Matt had been working to get all of his gear together (sleeping bag, pack, sleeping pad, headlamp, etc).

A few days before the campout Matt said to Austin "I think the best way to check your gear and make sure you'll be warm enough is to sleep outside tonight!" Now most kids would panic at this point at the thought of sleeping outside in the middle of winter. (Keep in mind, our high temperatures were in the low to mid-20's with nightime temperatures of about 7 degrees!) The thought of sleeping out didn't bother Austin at all! Matt told him to clear a space in the shed and he did. He laid out his sleeping pad and two sleeping bags. He slept in sweats with a hat on and said he stayed really warm. Of course as a mother, I didn't sleep all that well worrying about him!

They ended up cancelling the scout campout because we had a HUGE snowstorm the day before and were expecting another storm as well. Oh well...at least we know he would be comfortable going!
